Progress report: October 28, 2019

Ohoy there mateys, I have a short progress report for you.

I'm currently working hard on further developing the back-end for the Slave Management Menu. Progress is being made steadily and I might be able to post beta 2 sometime next week. This time, i'll try to implement more front-end so people can actually play around with it a bit. As I said before, the SMM is one of the most important features in making Sunlight Empire the erotic RPG I always aspired it to be. In short, I am very happy with how things are going on that front.

Lastly I wanted to thank everyone who donates to the project through itch.io. Your support has been incredibly heartwarming!

[Release] v0.3.3beta

Hurray! Another score for team Sunlight Empire! 

Version 0.3.3beta marks the first release of the Slave Management Menu. This is a centralized hub for you to access, customize, and ehem "play" with your roster of "acquisitions". 

You get access to it starting at Chapter 3. The SMM will play a crucial role throughout the course of the story. Here you will make many important choices that will alter the course of the narrative. It is one of the pillars upon which Sunlight Empire's RPG and "Choices and Consequences" will rest upon. I should note that the SMM is currently in the beta state. Many features are as of yet unimplemented, however there should be enough in there to give you good idea of what this is all about. 

In other news, I have extensively edited Chapters 1 and 2 to bring it up to a higher standard of presentation, programming, writing and overall flow. I think the changes really elevate the game, however due to the extensive nature of these edits, your saves from the previous versions are no longer compatible. This is an unfortunate fact, but one that I feel is justified considering the overall improvements made to the project. In general, I am going to relax my strict save-compatibility policy because even though it's something that I am a big fan of, I think the overall improvements will outweigh the hassle. From now on I will always state whether your saves are compatible with each new version.

I have also started the same overhaul process with Chapter 3, however that is still a work in progress. Ultimately, the changes to Chapter 3 will be the most extensive out of the bunch. Even now, in its current state, you should easily be able to spot these new changes and additions. 


Anyhow, I've rambled enough. Here is the change-logs: 

v0.3.3beta:
- Overhauled Chapters 1 and 2. Better scripts, better flow, better writing etc.
- Chapter 3 overhaul (WIP)
- Added new Slave Management menu (WIP) in Chapter 3 onwards
- Updated the visual make-up of the project for consistency

Current progress 14/10/2019

I am currently working on enhancing Chapters 1-3. This includes significant overhauls and additions to the text itself, including a number of new naughty scenes, specially in Chapter 3. I've also updated the visual profile of the project for consistency across the board. This enhancement project is also very significant on the development end of things since re-planning the scripting used in the project from the ground up means I will be able to develop the gameplay related elements much faster. I have also decided to put a larger emphasis on gameplay going forward. I  plan on eventually expanding the scope of what's possible on that end quite significantly. The next build will probably be released early next week, most likely on Monday the 20th.

[Release] v0.3.2

Well, after more than a year of dealing with personal life issues, I am happy to announce that Sunlight Empire is back in development. This release primarily focuses on preparing the game for the upcoming chapters, but also features a number of important bugfixes. I've decided to no longer upload the game on Mega. From now you can download (and optionally) support me over at itch.io. Here goes the changelog:

v0.3.2: Development resumes!

- Added a new interlude in preparation for the next chapter.
- Fixed not being able to access the soldier route in Chapter 1 despite it being fully implemented otherwise.
- Various re-writes and language-related fixes
- Major under-the-hood reformatting to facilitate easier development flow

[Release] v0.3.0 - Chapter 3 (Complete)

As promised, here is the full release of Chapter 3, nicely packaged for your consumption. Find out the fate of the Blackwoods and who or what Sylvan is.
